Hay analysis for your horse

A lab report provides values for your hay batch. Equivora includes them in the ration analysis so you can assess your horse's nutrient supply.

Ordering a hay analysis through Equivora is currently being prepared.

What does a hay analysis show?

Depending on the scope of analysis, the results include, for example, energy and protein values, sugar, minerals or trace elements. Not every laboratory order covers all values.

For ration planning, you also need the daily amount of hay and the other feed. Only together with the horse's profile can the nutrient intake be compared with the calculated requirement.

What does the evaluation look like?

For each nutrient, the ration analysis shows whether the calculated intake is below, within or above the target range. The origin of the hay values remains visible; missing information is shown as data gaps.

How do you have your hay analysed?

  1. 1

Take a sample from your hay batch

Please take the hay sample before steaming and send it in unsteamed. Take material from several bales and different layers of the same lot and mix the sub-samples. Sample quantity, packaging and shipping follow the instructions of the laboratory you use.

  2. 2

    Put together the laboratory order

Choose the analyses that match your question. Nutrient contents, minerals, trace elements and feed hygiene are not automatically included in every package. Label the sample and the order identically and send both to the laboratory.

  3. 3

Transfer the results into your ration

We transfer your lab report into your ration analysis. We also need your details on the amount of hay fed, other feed and your horse's profile.

Before sending, ask the laboratory you have chosen about the specific analyses, the total price and the expected processing time. These instructions are not a bookable Equivora offer.

Already have a lab report?

Use your existing hay values for your ration analysis. You can also start without lab results; the analysis then works with labelled table or regional values. The results are reference model estimates and are to be professionally validated.
